My father, Brian John Jayson, from Bristol, served on HMS Zambesi (Z Class Destroyer) on the Russian Arctic Convoys. He didn’t really talk about it much, but I think he was on the ship when it took part in the evacuation of civilians from the island of Sørøy, Norway.

I’ve attached the few images I have of him during that time:
